Do You Need To Determine The Cost Of Your Parcels Based? Do You Need To Work Out The Volumetric Weight Of Your Parcels? The Volumetric Weight Calculator Will Help You Work Out The Approximate Cost Of Your Parcel Based On Its Dimensions

What Is A Volumetric Weight Calculator?

Prime Space Logistics is charged on the actual weight and/or Volumetric Weight of the package or parcel dependent on which is greater. For This reason Prime Space Logistics have provided their clients with an on line Volumetric Weight Calculator to be used to work out an estimate on the type of cost they could be looking at as parcels are charged by weight. To use the on line Volumetric Calculator simply measure your parcel and then input the measurements in the length, width, height input fields and press calculate.

What Is Volumetric Weight?

Volumetric Weight is a calculation of a theoretical weight of a package. This theoretical weight is the weight of the package at a minimum density chosen by the freight carrier. If the package is below this minimum density, then the actual weight is irrelevant as the freight carrier will charge for the volume of the package as if it were of the chosen density (what the package would weigh at the minimum density). Furthermore, the volume used to calculate the Volumetric Weight may not be absolutely representative of the true volume of the package.

Volumetric Weight Calculation

Volumetric Weight is also referred to as Dimensional Weight and is calculated using the following formula: Width x Height x Length ÷ 5000. For example if your parcel is 20cm the calculation would be 20 x 20 x 20 ÷ 5000 = 2kg. This also means that if the parcel weighs less than 2kg you will still be charged for 2kg for example if your parcel weighs 1.43kg you will be charged for 2kg. As all parcels are charged for per each 0.5kg, please remember that the chargeable mass will be determined by the total actual / volumetric weight (whichever is greater), rounded to the next 0.5kg.  For example;  In the case of a parcel/s that has a total weight of 1.10kg, the chargeable mass would therefore be for a total of 1.50kg, and a document of 0.20kg, will be charged at the minimum chargeable mass of 0.5kg.

Instructions For Use

Before you can use the Volumetric Weight Calculator you will need to measure your parcels width, length and height and record the figures on a piece of paper. Once you have the dimensional measurements for your parcel you will need to then select the type of measurement unit metric or imperial for the weight followed by selecting the type of parcel you have box or tube. Input the measurement values and click calculate.
